Help Desk Support Technician

Rapidly growing Fairfield County based IT consulting firm seeks highly motivated Help Desk Support Technician for immediate hire. Job Description:

In this position you will provide full support and consulting services to our clients, both on-site and remotely. Your daily tasks will include installation and migration services, desktop, network and server configuration, troubleshooting and support, system maintenance and documentation, and end-user training and assistance. The ideal candidate is comfortable not knowing every system, software or device but has the technical foundation and personal initiative to face something unfamiliar and nimbly gain a functional understanding of how the product works and effectively begin supporting the technology using their previous experience. Responsibilities:

  • Take personal ownership of assigned tasks, client satisfaction and systems health.
  • Provide premium remote and on-site IT support to all clients.
  • Build, install and configure new client computers and network equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and connectivity issues.
  • Assist with client network upgrades and technology refreshes.
  • Monitor customer networks and escalate issues as required.
  • Mobile device configuration and deployment.
  • Server systems troubleshooting and support.
  • Resolve complex user issues with timely and effective solutions.
  • Use ticketing system to manage support requests, escalate issues and document all remediation efforts.
  • Remain current on emerging technologies, services and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess excellent communications skills and exhibit confidence and professionalism among high profile clients including corporate executives.
  • Candidate must possess a strong work ethic and prioritize attention to detail.
  • Superior troubleshooting and logical reasoning skills.
  • Strong time management, multitasking and organizational skills are a requirement including the ability to be prompt and courteous.
  • 2+ years’ experience supporting Windows desktop and server network environments.
  • Hands-on experience building, rebuilding and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows desktop computers and laptops.
  • High proficiency in Office/Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013 support.
  • Experience in mobile email technologies and devices (Blackberry Enterprise Server, ActiveSync, iPhone/iPad, Android and Blackberry.)
  • Network wiring and termination skills required.
  • Basic firewall and routing skills required, moderate to advanced proficiency a plus. (Cisco IOS/CLI, Cisco ASA, WatchGuard, SonicWall, FortiNet, Access Control Lists, Static Routing, NAT and PAT.)
  • Basic switching and wireless skills required, moderate to advanced proficiency a plus. (Switch LAN configuration, VLANs, InterVLAN Routing, wireless network and security setup, wireless controller configuration.)
  • Comfortable working independently and in a team environment.
  • Overtime, including nights and weekends may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Commutation within the Fairfield County, Westchester County, and Manhattan areas are requirements of the position.
  • Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and registered vehicle.
  • Applicants must be able to lift and transport 40 lb. objects.
  • Working knowledge and implementation experience of DNS a plus. (Domains and Sub-Domains, SOA, NS, CNAME, A and MX Records, etc.)
  • Working knowledge and implementation experience of network protocols including email a plus. (TCP/IP, HTTP(S), SNMP, SMTP, IMAP, POP, SNMP, etc.)
  • Basic Windows Server systems configuration and support experience a plus. (Active Directory, DNS, Exchange, etc.)
  • CompTIA A+ or Microsoft certifications a plus.
